iPhoneography: Colaba HipstaPack

We just got back from a  pre-bed time stroll around the neighbourhood. After weeks of frigid weather it feels amazing to get outside.

I took the opportunity to catch Elliott enjoying his walk with one of my newest iPhoneography loves, the Colaba HipstaPack for Hipstamatic.

It feels like it’s been a long time since I last used the Hipstamatic app but I noticed I was due for an update. Luckily, there were some new HipstaPacks in their store. I liked Colaba the most so I decided to give it a go. I think it’s my all time favourite pack. I love the warm, pink tone and the contrast. I also really like that there’s no border. Nice and simple.

Hipstography put together a pretty detailed article about Colaba. Read it here.

Waterlogued Malta

I recently came across a few images in my Instagram feed that were created with Waterlogue so I decided to give it a try myself. The app was released in December and it seems to be gaining in popularity.

Below are six pictures transformed by Waterlogue. I took these in Malta on a stop on our Honeymoon Cruise in May 2012. I really like the results and I’m sure I’ll keep playing around with the different settings to find a style I really like.

Shopping Finds: Palm Springs

In my previous Palm Springs post I mentioned shopping. Sarah, Paul and I drove to Cabazon on our first full day in town to visit the Desert Hills Premium Outlets. The place was a crazy construction zone. Since I was last there, they’ve built a large parkade and are currently adding 40 more stores to the existing 130. Crazy!

I think it was around 10:30 in the morning by the time we arrived. We split up and agreed to meet up at 2pm. I thought that was a generous amount of time, but we ended up using pretty much all of it, including a quick lunch stop.

Later on in the week I took Tim and Elliott to Raymond Lawrence in Palm Springs. I had come across the store online somewhere and it looked like it was my type of place. I knew I was right as soon as I spotted item 1 below.

My finds:

  1. Balloon Dog piggy bank from Raymond Lawrence for Elliott.
  2. Tory Burch flip flops from the Outlets. This is my second pair and I love them. I find Tory Birch a bit intimidating to go into. Security guard at the front plus pretty much nothing has a price on it.
  3. Cheeky Palm Springs postcards from Raymond Lawrence for my snail mail addiction.
  4. J. Crew chain necklace from the Outlets.
  5. Baby Vans for Elliott from the Outlets. I looked for a pair for myself but didn’t find any that I liked. I’ll order online.

iPhoneography: Palm Springs

We just returned from a 10 day Mundy Family Mega Vacation in Palm Springs. Five children under 4.5 years of age, respective parents plus grandparents all in one house. Oh yes! Very little sleep was had.

Elliott refused to sleep in the crib we rented for him. The first two nights were exactly like the fist nights we brought him home from the hospital. The second night I literally got 1.5 hours of sleep. I swear that I was up rocking him to sleep for a total of three hours. The only way we could get Elliott to sleep through the night (until 4am) the rest of the trip was co-sleeping in our Queen bed. Super fun when your husband is 6’4″, sleeps diagonally and your baby likes to roll around.

The weather was pretty nice and the shopping was good (I hope to share some pictures of my finds)! Elliott was able to work on his swimming and crawling while we were away. He’s mobile and at this point it’s more like he drags himself around for short distances. He’s really good at turning around and changing direction. Baby gates are in our very near future.

It’s nice that the flight was direct from Edmonton. At about three hours, I think it’s as long as Elliott can take right now. In all the times I’ve flown with him he automatically goes to sleep on take off and naps for an hour to an hour and a half. After that he wakes up and becomes really squirmy.

Below are some pictures from our trip.

Joining Rescue Flats

A new year brings new adventures. Here’s a little something I’ve been working on behind the scenes.

My sister-in-law, Sarah, and I have been hard at work updating the online shop for her start-up Rescue Flats. Aminah Syed provided us with some updated product photography which we are very excited about. Head-shots to come this weekend!

I was really happy to help Sarah migrate her shop over to Shopify. I love this type of project. While I’m not a designer by any stretch of the imagination, I do have some surface level skills and I’d like to think I have a good eye for making things “pretty”.

As the year progresses, the end of my maternity leave inches closer. I have some big decisions to make. I’m thrilled that Sarah has asked me to join her at Rescue Flats. I think we’ll work great together. Sarah expects 2014 to be an amazing year for the company, so here’s to hoping that more of my time will be dedicated to her brilliant idea of a business.

Here’s a look back to Rescue Flat’s launch in 2013 at Bridal Fantasy in Edmonton.

I’d be amiss if I didn’t mention that Rescue Flats are on sale until January 18th for 40% off.
